They were taking better care of themselves. Making themselves a priority. Investing in themselves again. Creating time for themselves. I’ve been thinking about that ever since. We spend a lot of time talking about workouts, nutrition, skincare, recovery, supplements, and all the things we should be doing. But none of those things happen until you make a decision. The decision that you’re worth the effort. And if I’m being honest, I think that’s something a lot of women struggle with. As mothers, wives, girlfriends, caregivers, business owners, professionals, daughters, and friends, we’re often so busy taking care of everyone else that we end up somewhere near the bottom of our own list. We tell ourselves we’ll start when things settle down. When work gets less busy. When the kids need us a little less. When we have more time. But there always seems to be something. That’s why these two women stayed with me. They were decades apart in age, but they had both arrived at the same place. They had decided that they were worth the effort. Not because they were trying to become someone else. Not because they hated where they were. But because they felt they deserved the same care, attention, and energy that they so freely give to everyone around them. I think that’s what wellness really is. It’s not a number on a scale or a step count on a watch. It’s the choice to stop putting yourself at the bottom of your own list. So if nobody has reminded you lately, let me do it. |
